This coming Monday is the 4th of July and because we need very little reason to have a party we are certainly celebrating this event. We have also been known to celebrate International Lama Day, St Paddy’s Day and Doughnut day.
This is our plan for the 4th:
Red, white and blue poly cotton.
Fold, measure and cut.
Tie the strips to the string
The cutting is hard work unless you have a quilting fabric cutter. We use the OLFA 45 mm Rotary Cutter, buy yours here.
Snap, Crackle and Pop signs
Red, white and blue paint
Sand the boards, if needed.
Paint each board a different colour
Once it has dried, paint the wording in a different colour
Allow to dry
Washi tape, red, white and blue
Stick the flag in the correct order and combination
Make it slightly larger than the required size
Cut sides to create even shape
Sheets of glitter foam, red and blue
Paper straws, red and blue
Ribbon, red and blue
Trace the star shape on the back of the foam sheet
You can use this template
Cut out the star
Stick it to the straw with double sided tape
Tie the ribbon
Mini flag platters
Popsicle sticks, big
Paint, red, white and blue
Line up the popsicle sticks
Break one in half
Stick it on the flag. Make sure each stick is attached
Once it has dried, turn it over and paint.
We are in possession of the best pulled pork recipe in the world, but we will share that on another day. For today, we relied on Woolies. Again.
Slow Roast Pork Shoulder
Corn on the cob
Red, white and blue Granita
Red juice, we used Cranberry
White juice, we used Litchi
Blue cold drink, we used Energade
This we made because sometimes we do cook.
Pour the liquid into three separate containers
Place it in the freezer
After about an hour, depending on your freezer, remove and scrape the frozen juice creating fine ice
Replace and repeat after another hour
Layer in dessert glasses and serve immediately
We hope you have a wonderful 4th of July. What do you have planned?
