Copper is definitely the ‘it’ colour for your kitchen at the moment. What we love most about the copper kitchen trend is the availability of copper accessories. It’s easy to update your kitchen without ripping the taps from the walls. Although you can do that too if you like.
A beautiful gift
We found these beautiful copper salad servers from Essential Earth Global at Kamers Vol Geskenke in Johannesburg and couldn’t resist getting them for a friend who recently, literally, ripped the taps from the walls and ended up with a beautiful coppery kitchen.
We wanted the wrapping to live up to the simplicity of the salad spoons. They come in a black fabric bag with copper coloured printing. Gifts in beautiful bags are a favourite. The bag and printing dictated the colour of the wrapping.
To keep the kitchen theme we ransacked our kitchens for supplies. You know copper is cool when you can buy pot scourers in the same colour. We pulled them apart and cut a strip. This would be our ribbon for the card.
We used plain black board and cut a card. Punched and attached the scourer strip. A copper coloured Sharpie added a complementary touch to the card and of course we needed matching tape. Thank you, Typo.
Add a black velvet ribbon and a rock rose. We loved that the rock roses had a touch of copper in the leaf. A perfect match.
Copper and succulents seem to be very happy companions. Take a look at this simple combination:

Where to buy it
The Culinary Equipment Company stocks a full range of Mauviel pots. Mauviel have been making copper pots since 1830. Suffice to say they know a thing or two about making pots. If your budget allows you, it’s the ultimate copper indulgence. The Culinary Equipment Company has stores in Lanseria and Stellenbosch.
Trusty Woolworths has a range called The Copper Effect.
Today One Day Only has a set of copper lanterns for only R599, you can buy them here.
So you have no excuse not to have a touch of copper in your kitchen and don’t neglect the wrapping.
