- In an alternate universe Blair and Mia rule the Planet Yak. A place where peace reigns, cupcakes aren’t fattening and glitter doesn’t stick to your hands for all eternity. But when they are on this planet they are working mommies, aspiring domestic goddesses, DIY-enthusiasts and bloggers who are in constant pursuit of all things pretty.

The season of giving is upon us, but besides the giving that is involved in Christmas we seem to be surrounded by babies. In womb or out, they’re everywhere. We are attending gender reveal parties, baby showers, christenings and first birthday parties. The most common conundrum is what to get the tiny, pink bundle? We have a solution for you, Bella & Me.
It’s always hard deciding what to get an expecting mother or a tiny baby, but you’ll love the selection Bella & Me has to offer.
Bella & Me is a gorgeous shop in the East of Pretoria that specialises in baby gifts. Linen, hammocks, nappy bags, clothes and beautiful wooden toys. All from these awesome brands: MiGi Designs, NaNook Furniture, Mayalief, JeleBebe Teething Jewellery and more.
It’s more than enough to spoil mom and baby. They are situated in Olympus on the same property as Blos Café. They are next door, in the same building as Taste Life Café. You can make whole outing of it.
Check out what we chose for our little nephew who was born this week.

Summer is coming.
We know sunshine and happiness will bless us all soon because summer is just a cold front away. It also means it’s time for swimming pools and beaches and the excruciating torture of bathing suit shopping.
Yes, you clutch your heart and shield your eyes as you see the small, drywall cubicle. The harsh, florescent lighting, the proximity of other people as you grunt your way into a small, stretchy, stringy bathing suit.
Already you are assuming the fetal position. Mentally tallying the number of tracksuits you own, because there is not a chance you are willing to torture yourself like that again. Because you know whatever you choose you’ll end up in the same bathing suit as your mother’s friend from bowling, because the whole country shops at the same store.
But there is hope, dear bathing suit-shopper. There is also peace and happiness and a spacious cubicle with soft, gentle lighting. Where is this magical place you ask?
Lu-May Swimwear is the answer. It is an appointment-based service and online shop. They have several branches all over the country. You will have the showroom to yourself and a huge variety of styles and sizes to choose from.
The are so many suits. You can choose between bikinis, full suits, monokinis, tankinis and a variety of wraps and cover ups. There are sizes and styles for everyone.
We loved the monokinis. It makes swimming with kids a lot easier and keeps everything where it should be. The whole experience was fantastic. Everyone was kind, helpful and super-discreet.
Lu-May also stocks lingerie. Once again, the variety of styles and sizes are amazing.
You can ask advice, have someone recommend a style and enjoy buying your swimsuit for a change.
They have branches in Pretoria East (Faerie Glen), Midrand (Midstream), East Rand (Glen Marais), West Rand (Noordheuwel), Nelspruit, Middelburg, Langebaan, Worcester.

It’s still winter and we are sort of over it. So as a consolation we have treated ourselves to numerous coffees. Roastmasters Coffee Bar in Menlo Park is our newest favourite haunt. It’s cosy, and the coffee and wifi are strong.
We should also mention that our office is possibly the coldest room on earth so we are partial to warm workspaces where people offer us caffeine and baked goods.
The food is simple and well-priced, and the croissants have been approved by our resident six-year-old croissant expert. You can also order a simple cheese and tomato toasted sandwich, which is a relief in a world filled with huge portion sizes, overdressed plates, and inflated prices.
The carrot cake is next-level awesome and filled with lots of nuts and chewy bits.
It feels like walking into an old apothecary. The shelves are filled with old books, bottles and jars that look they were once filled with potions. We just love everything about it.
They roast their own coffee and you can buy your own beans to grind and brew, or just brew at home.
There are couches to chill on or you can work at one of the high tables. There are plenty of plugs for your laptop and coffee on tap. One can’t ask for a better coffee bar. Find them on the web here or on Facebook.
Do yourself a favour and go check them out. And don’t forget…
Have a happy day,
