Pretoria is so perfectly purple right now; we couldn’t resist a purple post. It is a continuation of our (not so) slight obsession with craft paper. Last week we dressed it up for a very elegant gift, this week we’re chilling out with soft purple and lollipops.
The perfectly purple cards and awesome Happy Birthday Stamp were from an ‘I love you’ box from Elephant Shoe, but alas, Sam now lives in London, you can still buy her digital goodies. Go take a look if copper foil printing is your thing. We do miss our box of paperie prettiness, though.
We used rolls of craft paper and brown paper bags.
We gathered all things purple. We found tissue paper, ribbon in various shades and widths. The rick-rack just added to the fun and twine is always a good idea.
Have we mentioned that we are hoarders? We save bits, bobs and snippets in small bags according to colour. Raid the stash.
The lollipops are courtesy of Woolies. There are other colours in the packet, but you’ll have to eat those quickly. To save your child’s teeth, of course.
Once you have gathered all the goodies do some planning. If you are wrapping more than one gift play with the colours. We wrapped one in brown paper and trimmed it with the purple. The second we wrapped in purple and trimmed it with the craft paper.
If you don’t have purple cards, you can tie some ribbon and lavender to the handle of the craft bag to repeat the colour.
We love stamps. This one is a favourite. Keep an eye out, we are finding some awesome stamps in stores and at markets. You can never have too many stamps.
Try to find purple flowers that are in season. We used stocks and white lisianthus. We also used lavender from the garden. Arrange the flowers and wrap. It helps to put the sturdier paper, in this case the craft paper, on the outside, especially if you are going to be transporting the bunch.
