Minions – The most despicable wrapping ever

It is safe to assume, that we all agree, that there is nothing on earth cooler, cuter, funnier and sweeter than minions. Seriously, they make you want to yell, ‘banana’ every time you walk past a banana in the grocery store.

We had some fun in our wrapping studio this week making our own minion gift wrap and we can’t get enough of these little guys. We made a minion with one eye, like Kevin or Stuart, but if your gift is big enough you can make one with two eyes, like Dave or Phil. Again, depending on the size of the gift you can tailor the wrapping to resemble a specific minion, for example, Phil, who is taller.

What you need for your minions:

A gift in a box

Yellow tissue paper

Black cardboard

White cardboard

Outer ring of a Consol lid

Denim duct tape, or denim fabric or paper with a denim print, if you don’t have the tape.Denim Duck Tape Sticky tape

Double sided tape

How to make your minions:

  1. Wrap the gift in yellow tissue paper.
  2. Stick the denim duct tape in the shape a dungaree.
  3. Trace the Consol lid to make a white circle and cut it out.
  4. Cut two smaller black circles. One for the eye and a slightly bigger one for the mouth.
  5. Position the white circle and stick it down.
  6. Stick down the black circle to make the pupil.Minion
  7. Position the second black circle and stick the mouth.
  8. Apply double sided to the bottom of the Consol ring and stick it on the edge of the white circle.
  9. Cut the black cardboard to look like hair. We choose Stuart because his hair is neatly combed.
  10. Stick it down with double-sided tape.
  11. Ta-da!

If you are in any doubt as to the suitably of minions as birthday accompaniments, please watch the video below:

Enjoy the minions.

Minions Gift Wrap

Do’nut forget the wrapping

Doughnuts were invented to preserve our sanity and to make birthday parties great. Yes, it’s possibly one of the coolest party themes we came across this year. The birthday girl also happens to be exceptionally cool and exceptionally sweet so we knew we had to up our wrapping game.

Here’s what we did:

We chose a skirt from Cotton On for the gift. When you choose a gift keep in mind you have to be able to shape it into a circle.doughnut-gift-wrapping-2

 For the wrapping:

Cake box, big enough for the gift.

Pink tissue paper

Brown, doughnut coloured tissue paper. We didn’t have that shade of brown so we used an old sewing pattern. We knew we saved if for a reason.

White tissue paper

Sticky tape – coloured board

 The method:

  1. Roll the gift and wrap it in the brown tissue paper.doughnut-gift-wrapping-4
  2. Shape it like doughnut and stick with sticky tape.doughnut-gift-wrapping-5
  3. Trace a rough circle on the white tissue paper and draw the dripping icing. Cut this out. It takes a few tries to get the size right. doughnut-gift-wrapping-3 doughnut-gift-wrapping-7
  4. Stick it on the doughnut.
  5. Add the sprinkles, we used the punched-out bits from a binder.doughnut-gift-wrapping-6
  6. Stick the sprinkles on the white icing.doughnut-gift-wrapping-8
  7. Add the pink tissue paper to the box.
  8. Close the box and tie it with a ribbon. doughnut-gift-wrapping-11

  10. Do not eat.

How to Wrap a Gift Voucher

It’s awesome if you can find the perfect gift for a friend, sometimes that perfect gift is a voucher. Gift vouchers have come a long way. They are a lot easier to use and have less limitations than before. There are still people who don’t like them, but we love them. What we don’t like is pitching up at a party with a random card and bit of till slip, so we spend some time wrapping them.

How to Wrap a Gift Voucher

Brown and white paper bags are a wrapping staple for us. We used a paper punch here to create a border. Ribbon and tissue softened it all and then sweet peas added a final touch.

We also hoard stickers and can rarely pass an opportunity to buy some. The black sticker is from Elephantshoe. Their website is down right now, but you can follow the links to their social media platforms. The small note in the small envelope is from m.studio. You can visit her store in Hatfield at the Duncan Yard.

The blue heart is from m.studio. The cloud is from a sticker collection by KikkiK. We stuck it on a thin piece of board and cut it out to make it into a card.
